The Miss Hall’s School Greenhouse is bursting at the seams, and MHS 9th-graders are eager to share the results of their hard work!

The annual Horizons Plant Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, at the Ara West Grinnell, Class of 1901 Greenhouse, on the School’s 492 Holmes Road campus. Proceeds from the sale support the philanthropic efforts of the MHS 9th-grade class.

This year’s sale includes many varieties of annual starts, herb starts, house plants, perennials, tomato starts, vines, vegetable starts, and biennial starts. The sale will also feature succulents sold in hand-thrown potsMany will be sold in hand-thrown pots, also created by the Class of 2027.

For nearly thirty years, the 9th Grade Plant Sale, held as part of the School’s nationally acclaimed Horizons program, has encouraged collaboration, creativity, leadership, and entrepreneurship among Miss Hall’s students. The students also learn basic horticulture skills, selecting seeds, planting them, then transplanting seedlings, and caring for plants.

Horizons takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Wednesday during the academic year. The program begins with on-campus community service projects in the 9th grade, introduces off-campus elements in the sophomore year, builds on nonprofit volunteerism as a junior, and concludes with a senior-year internship or independent project, typically tailored to a student’s college and/or career interests.

The 9th graders have worked hard this year to prepare for the sale, and they’ve got the Greenhouse chock full.

Stop by and say hello!

If you have any questions, please call 413-443-6401 and ask for the Greenhouse.
